USN safeguards consumers with melamine testing protocols.
The importance of testing in the supplementation industry must never be ignored. As a leading brand, USN has pioneered various testing principles in South Africa, developing the methods of best practice required to sustain a continually high product quality and product efficacy. This process has ensured that all supplement users who make use of USN‘s quality product range are protected with a true stamp of quality and seal of approval. The post-production HFL testing procedure from LGC Group in the UK, which has become a norm amongst USN’s advanced analysis process, is one of these unique principles.
However, in mid-July 2015, a study published in the Nutrition Journal by Gary Gabriels et al. emanating from the University of Cape Town entitled "Melamine contamination in nutritional supplements - Is it an alarm bell for the general consumer, athletes, and ‘Weekend Warriors’” highlighted a cause for concern in the supplement industry, and this is one we addressed some time ago.
USN has, for more than a decade, followed strict raw material sourcing, production, analysis and testing procedures. An important factor in this testing protocol is in the raw material sourcing, where the highest risk of contamination can occur. We have aligned ourselves with the elite, most globally recognised raw material suppliers, who guarantee their ‘Certificates of Analysis’, and who also perform an array of testing on the raw materials they produce and supply.
In support of this industry-leading testing practice, USN continues to commission post-production testing on all protein & amino containing products, and included in this battery of tests is a screening for melamine. We commission 3rd party SANAS Accredited Laboratories to analyse both raw materials and post-production products at accredited facilities countrywide. All USN consumers can be safe in the knowledge that our range of expertly produced, high-end sports nutrition supplements are melamine-free, safe for consumption and beneficial for health and goal success.
To further show our commitment to this testing procedure, all of the tests will be available for viewing below, along with the necessary certification logos included on our print media commitments.
